Welcome friends...this Amy Grant site is meant to be more than just a "fan site". It is my hope that those of you dropping by are or will become a friend of Amy's.
The message behind the music and the woman behind the music have always been more of an interest to me. Sure I love to sing along or just plain listen through the speakers but over the last 21 years...so much has happened. The journey I have traveled that I have been able to share with Amy really has opened my heart and my eyes to more of who she really is! What I found is...if you listen to her words with your heart...you too already know her!
Amy grew up in the Nashville area with her mom and dad and three older sister, Mimi, Cathy and Carol. It was Amy's desire to share her faith in God that lead her to write songs and sing them for friends and classmates. Little did she know that her friend Brown Bannister had one of the few tapes of Amy singing. He played it over the phone to a record company and the next thing you know...Amy's career had begun.
I still remember a story about Amy that just makes me laugh. Lakeside amusement park in Denver, Colorado, wanted Amy to come and do a show. It would be $500.00. Amy's sweet naive reply was that $500 was all she had saved for College and if she spent it to go and do the show she would be broke. She didn't even get that it wasn't $500 she'd have to spend, it was $500 they would pay her!
Here we are 25 years later and what a wonderful, wild ride this has been! From the young and innocent beginnings in Grape Grape Joy to Wise Up to What You Already Own.
The path of Amy's life really has unfolded through her music...her struggles, her joys, her laughs, her tears. Thus, making up the woman standing before us ever ready to share the love of Jesus.
I know that desire in her has never changed. So here's to the first 25, may the continuation be as much of a blessing and inspiration as the first!
Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Burton Grant for that evening in December 1994! God bless you both! "They will know we are Christians by our love". Your graciousness gave me such a beautiful memory to always hold close to the chest!
