I had to write something in here about Breast Cancer Awareness being that I have had this touch my life in a very personal way as many others have. Let me share this story with you!
In the late '90's in early February my mother called me one evening at home. By the tone of her voice I knew something was not right. She shared with me in that conversation that she had found a lump in her left breast. Ofcourse my heart dropped to the very pit of my stomach as I listened to her and in that same second I reached for strength and the "right words" from God.
My reply that night was,"Mom, I am just going to pray that if it is cancer that God would just take it away!"
A few weeks later my mother went for what was supposed to be a simple biopsy. As the doctor went in to remove a specimen, he could tell right away that this growth was cancerous. He proceeded to remove the whole thing. My mother was held a little while to recover and then allowed to go home. That was a Friday afternoon.
The following morning the Doctor called my mother at home fairly early to tell her that she better never stop praying to her God because He had indeed given her a miracle.
What he could tell by the naked human eye less than 24 hrs. earlier was definitely cancer had been changed by God. This doctor had confirmed and reconfirmed with the pathology lab that my mother's tumor had not one single sign of a cancerous cell within it. PRAISE GOD!!!!!
This is a testimony to me of not only the power of prayer and the awesome power of God to heal anything with the slight movement of HIS hand but also to the power that we as women have literally right at our fingertips. My mother caught this lump during her monthly self examination.
We need to be aware that these monthly examinations, mammograms and early detection really are the key to saving lives. It is my prayer that one day there will be a cure for this disease but until then we need to involve ourselves in our own health and our own prevention!
Here's to Women's Breast Health! May we join together and stand strong in this fight until the battle is won!
