Who the heck is Amy Grant Gill anyhow?
Gosh, if you were to obtain a backstage pass and this was your first time meeting Amy, what would she be like? What would you or could you expect???? Let me ask you this...have you met that sweet lady down the street from you? Ya know the mother of 4 who sits comfortably on her porch swing in faded jeans and boots, content to drink her coffee and watch her kids grow while nestled in the arms of her husband? Ya know that sweet lady named Amy?
Here is a little insight from a "veteran"!
Amy?????? Gosh!! Well, the first three words that come to mind are gracious, quiet and smiling!
I think it is so easy to get all caught up in the false "hugeness" of the moment! I see people that are 10 feet off the ground and rising. You have to pull back down to earth! Don't get me wrong...getting to meet someone who has been the "human link" to Jesus on many occasions in your life is huge...but what I guess I am trying to say is that...that doesn't make Amy HUGE!
Y'all are going to meet someone who truly loves and appreciates her fans! I think if truth be told there are times when "backstage moments" get to be too much for Amy and then I think there are times when Amy would stand and chat with you longer if time allotted!
She is interested in hearing our stories...she is interested in the connection...she is interested in you! But (and I stress that) there is a fine line between healthy and unhealthy connection!
I have seen folks walk away from a 1st time meeting with a star and feel incredibly let down because that "star" didn't say this or say that or well, they just weren't what the fan pictured personality wise.
I believe that if you want an honest glimpse into the heart of Amy and who she really is...this is what I would do...sit in a quiet moment with the Lord...connect with Him and then put her music on...listen not only with your ears but with your heart! There is no "reading between the lines" necessary. It is all right there!
Anymore of the details really aren't necessary nor do we have the right to ask them. God gives an enormous amount of heart knowledge in the "Simple Things". Most times the "play by play" or "Word for Word" just don't need to be shared or explained. Amy is real, honest and true to what she believes. She loves Jesus, she loves music, she loves her family and she loves to sing...put that all together and you know all that you need to in order to know the REAL Amy Lee Grant Gill!
